Since the founding of American Baptist Homes and Caring Ministries in 1930, our organization has endeavored to strengthen the relationships among the many groups and agencies that make up our membership.
In the past, one of our greatest tools to achieve that goal was a dedicated director for the association. After functioning without someone in that role for some time, ABHCM and its board have decided to pursue an individual to fill the director’s post.
The director will be responsible for overseeing the ABHCM annual calendar, contacting and networking with members, and pinpointing resources that we can share with member ministries and that they can share with each other.
Among the most important of the director’s responsibilities will be reconnecting with our membership. The director will work with the American Baptist Churches and the American Baptist Home Mission Societies to ensure that ABHCM members sense a stronger tie to the denomination and greater support for their individual ministries.
The ABHCM board has appointed me to serve as interim director while it searches for someone to fill this permanent, half-time position.
Peace and blessings,
The Rev. Garth Brokaw
ABHCM Board President
