Norman Vincent Peale said, “Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts.” American Baptist Homes and Caring Ministries plans to express that sentiment throughout the season by celebrating holiday traditions all month long.
And ABHCM members are finding many ways to celebrate. At Sunset Home, a retirement and assisted living community in Concordia, Kansas, the December calendar is packed with events to help residents get into the Christmas spirit.
On Dec. 3, friends and neighbors joined together to decorate Sunset Home for the holidays. There will also be screenings of Christmas movies, and residents and staff will spread cheer by singing carols.
Riverview Estates, an assisted living, rehabilitation and nursing care community in Riverton, New Jersey, will be hosting its annual Path of Light ceremony. Individuals are encouraged to purchase luminaries in honor of their loved ones. The luminaries are then used to light a pathway where residents will enjoy a candlelit holiday dinner while celebrating the lives of family and friends.
We all have our own holiday traditions. By sharing them with others, we are able to give the gifts of love and happiness. We are truly blessed at ABHCM, and we encourage everyone to open their hearts during the Christmas season and beyond.
Peace and blessings,
ABHCM Board President
